About Brian Wood

Biography:

I achieved All-Metro, captain, and MVP honors while playing basketball at William Paterson University in NJ. After completing my undergraduate degree in Communications in 1987, I combined my hunger for competition and adventure by participating in several traveling basketball teams. This basketball chapter included competing in Denmark, Puerto Rico, Australia, Mexico City, Alaska, Panama, and Hawaii.

While balancing my career, family, and volunteer responsibilities, I earned my MBA at the University of Phoenix in 2014. I am a Certified Professional Coach (PCC) through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (IPEC), one of the few programs in the US approved by the International Coach Federation (ICF) for direct certification.

I have previously served as Chairman of the Board of Directors with the Tempe Chamber of Commerce, which enhances the economic vitality for members and the business community. I have also served as an executive coach with the American Express Leadership Academy at the ASU Lodestar Center for several years supporting professional and personal leadership development program for Arizona's top emerging nonprofit leaders.

Another passion is changing lives and communities through mentorship and coaching of youth. This opportunity is pursued through my involvement as a Board Member (and previous Chairman of the Board) with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona.

Personal Story:

My journey in athletics and Corporate America has provided me with valuable perspectives, highlighting a clear need for coaching. Athletes often receive essential coaching early on, but when it's time to transition away from active participation, coaching often stops—just when it's needed most. The same holds true for anyone in transition while playing the game of life. I am inspired to make a difference in your life and motivated to collaborate, identify, and help you pursue your purpose—building a legacy of greatness!

Philosophy:

I support the creation and pursuit of individual and organizational vision. I identify tendencies and “blind spots” while challenging belief systems. I ensure accountability with the adjustment of habits and behaviors to generate sustainable results.

Credentials:

In addition to being a certified professional coach, I am certified to facilitate, interpret and coach clients using a variety of proven tools, 360's and assessments including:

  • Resilient Leadership

  • Master Practitioner of the Energy Leadership Index Program (ELI-MP)

  • Leadership Circle Profile Practitioner

  • Hogan Assessment

I am passionate about helping you navigate transitions and achieve your highest potential. Let’s embark on this journey together. Contact me today!
